And here are my beauties!!

0310131525A couple of posts ago I wrote about a gardener’s anticipation.

Well, I welcome these beauties, especially in these days when sunshine seems to be missing too often.  I will leave this grouping for many years in this same pot, as they will multiply and become an even more magnificent display.

Looking at planting combos from a new perspective

While meandering through the crowds at the Philadelphia flower show, I made several observations about humans and plants. We tend to group together.  It is okay to stand alone.  And sometimes it is just a matter of rearranging to get a better fit.  (As it was for me when I saw this particular combination.)

ycgt_blog_post_graphic (1)0304131254A picture-perfect display put together by a Clematis vendor showed beautiful specimens.  More inviting to me was how the clematis climbed through evergreens or tumbled around them.  This particular combination–of a purple variety embracing several gold mops was especially pleasing.  And I hope to GROW THAT combination in my own landscape.

A gardener delights in anticipation

anticipationOn this rather gray day in late February this gardener dreams.  Yes, though I live in the moment, EVERY gardener lives with anticipation!  It is one of the JOYS of this passion.  Just look at these buds filling up, about to burst out.

And I must admit I’m not certain what color they will be.  What fun!!
