Looking at planting combos from a new perspective

While meandering through the crowds at the Philadelphia flower show, I made several observations about humans and plants. We tend to group together.  It is okay to stand alone.  And sometimes it is just a matter of rearranging to get a better fit.  (As it was for me when I saw this particular combination.)

  ycgt_blog_post_graphic (1)0304131254A picture-perfect display put together by a Clematis vendor showed beautiful specimens.  More inviting to me was how the clematis climbed through evergreens or tumbled around them.  This particular combination–of a purple variety embracing several gold mops was especially pleasing.  And I hope to GROW THAT combination in my own landscape.
